Restored by respected vintage instrument luthier in St Louis, Mo. A full top off restore-great bones brought back! New bridge and bridge plate (repair work to top inside under old incorrect bridge plate) new bone saddle and nut refret neck set crack in side repaired. all braces checked Old overspray on top carefully removed and top buffed. We left the overspray on the back and sides as it does not effect the sound at all. everything else is original
This instrument was a case queen of mine for 40 years before I took it to the man and had it brought back to life. Good for another 40 years!! Oh, and it is loud as all git out!!
My luthier is a very private individual and does not care to have his name on this add. He will speak to a serious inquirer about the instrument and his work. You can call me and I will share his contact information if the inquiry is serious.
Along with its Rosewood counterpart, the D-28, the Martin D-18 stands as one of the true original dreadnoughts introduced by Martin in 1932. The D-18 made a switch from a 12-fret to a 14-fret instrument in 1934 and has stayed largely the same since, with just the occasional change in wood source or cosmetic detail. Since the D-18 uses Mahogany instead of Rosewood, it is thought to have a somewhat crisper sound with more definition the top-end.
