A killer top far more rare than any other 2003
Brazilian finger board guitar that Gibson ever made is this gorgeous 54 Les Paul Brazilian Stinger flame top model. It was made by
Gibson Custom in Nashville TN. and just covered in FLAMES! Commissioned by Dave
and Connie Carpenter, original owners of Music Machine in good ole Kennewick
Washington. Edwin Wilson who is the Gibson Custom Division Historic manager was
in charge of “Stinger Series” and he and Dave Carpenter hand picked all the tone
woods for the Stingers guitars and this is the reason these guitars sound and
play so well. These guitars are all about TONE! Dave and Connie wanted to make
sure these guitars played and sounded incredible and placed all thier effort in
that area. This guitar features a Gibson verified Brazilian Rosewood finger
board and rare Stinger head stock. For you seasoned collectors you know that
Dave Carpenter and Music Machine was the largest Gibson dealer in the mid 2000's
until Dave retired and sold the store in 2005 and Music Machine always got the
best wood out of Gibson. Music Machine was the dealer that was responsible for
the Brazilian Stinger, Cloud 9, 59 Blister Tops, and many other very special
runs.
There were only 15 total 54 Jeff Beck Brazilian
Stinger Les Pauls in this run numbered 8 through 15 and only a few were ordered
with the 1960 neck profile and only a few were flamed top sunburst guitars as
most were the Jeff Beck Oxblood color. This is the only flame top in the rare
Brock Burst finish. The Gibson SKU number for this guitar is
LP54JBF60HD. This guitar is
serial number 4305X MM-11 and is truly a stunning guitar. It has all specs of a
54 reissue including long neck tenon, hand picked huge flamed Maple top, solid
Mahogany back and neck, Burstbucker 1 pickups with CTS pots and Bumble Bee caps,
22 frets, 24 3/4" scale, Brazilian Rosewood finger board, nickel hardware,
Schaller M-1 tuners, 2 tone 2 volume knobs, 3 way pick up switch, light weight
stop Bar tail piece, 1 11/16" nut width, binding on front of body, 60 neck
profile, and nitro cellulose lacquer Brock Burst finish. The color is absolutely
just stunning with a great huge flame top. The top is just so thick and lush
with figure seen from every angle front to back top to bottom. if you notice how
deep the carve of the top is and there is no factory installed pick guard
because they didn’t want to cover up that gorgeous top.
This guitar is all original in as new mint
condition, un-played in its original rare blue lined case with all the original
hang tags, customer care kit, strap, Gibson certificate of authenticity, Music
Machine Brazilian Stinger certificate of authenticity, and the Music Machine
Stinger booklet describing the series. There was a choice of 4 cases for these
guitars and they were the black Custom Shop case with red lining (common),
Custom Shop vintage brown reissue case (common), tweed case with blue lining
(very rare), and the black Custom Shop case with blue lining (scarce).
The nickel hardware is
gracefully aging and this one is from the "good wood years". The guitar weighs
in at 8 pounds 14 ounces and simply a truly a stunning and rare guitar for any
modern collection.
