Tama Superstar Cherry Wine Drum Set
These drums are considered staples of 80s Tama quality, often described as some of the best-sounding kits ever made by the company. Pro quality all the way.
This one has a few small nicks and scratches on the top (pictured), but they disappear as you step back a few feet. One corner of the T badge is bent up a little (pictured). *Note: the black scuff in the photo from the batter head side is on the head, not the drum.*
Amazing kit that's served me well for many years. Custom configuration that would be difficult to assemble nowadays. Includes original 1980's Tama Omnisphere double tom stand.
Sounds and looks amazing, grab it before I change my mind on this one.
Drums range from very good to excellent. You can see in the photos the depth of the cherry wine lacquer and how the color can shift in different lighting - a truly breathtaking finish.
6.5 x 10 Concert Tom (late 1986) - Very good condition, this drum has the most incidental environmental wear with small cosmetic hairlines running horizontally with the wood grain in the finish. Disappears from a short distance.
9 x 13 Rack Tom (early 1986) - Very Good Condition. It was excellent before I foolishly shared the kit in a rehearsal room a few years ago and was rewarded with a snare rub blemish on the panel that faces the drummer/snare. Otherwise, minor incidental blemishes.
16 x 16 Floor Tom (early 1986) - Excellent Condition, minor incidental wear. Includes original Tama/Remo resonant head with Faust Music (Milwaukee Drum Shop) stamp.
16 x 18 Floor Tom (late 1986) - Excellent Condition, minor incidental wear. Includes original legs. *NOTE: pictured with Evans Hydraulic head (not included), Evans G1 Clear head is currently installed.
16 x 24 Bass Drum (1982) - Very Good Condition. A few small incidental nicks and scratches on the top, but they disappear as you step back a few feet. One corner of the T badge is bent up a little. Includes original heads, tom mounting plate and foam rings for EMAD head. Also includes black fibre Anvil hard case (one of three straps broke, still closes tight. I have the broken strap). At one point I had three of this size and finish, two were 1986 models, I kept this one from 1982 because it sounded superior and had the least wear to its finish.
Local pickup only on this one. The drums are currently in Mount Prospect IL, but can also be picked up at Kreate Hub Rehearsal Studios on Superior Street near Chicago/California Aves in Chicago with prior notice.
