The “MJ・Five” is an original 5-string bass model that inherits traditional styling while incorporating Momose's unique refinements. Each instrument is handcrafted by skilled luthiers at the Asuka factory, from woodworking and painting to the final assembly. Its superior playability, born from exquisite craftsmanship, has earned the support of top players both in Japan and abroad, delivering the steadfast quality that only Japanese manufacturing can provide. The “MJ・Five2/M” features a classic combination of an ash body and a maple fingerboard.

■Enhanced Upper-Fret Access with Extended Horn Cut

The MJ model features a deeper cut on the treble-side horn compared to standard JB-style basses. This design ensures smooth access to the higher frets, providing excellent playability even for players with larger hands.

■Recessed Neck Joint Plate

While utilizing an orthodox plate joint for ideal resonance and sustain, the plate itself is recessed into the body. This subtle but effective adjustment further enhances player comfort and ease of movement.

■Wood Binding to Prevent Fingerboard Issues

The sides of the fingerboard are finished with wood binding made from the same material as the board itself. This creates a smooth feel along the neck and prevents common issues such as "fret sprout" caused by wood shrinkage over years of use.

■Original “Gravitas” Pickups

The original “Gravitas” pickups feature recalibrated pole piece heights to optimize output balance across all five strings. They deliver a punchy, full-bodied sound from the lows to the mids, adding significant weight and presence to your tone.

■Turbo Switch

Equipped with a "Turbo Switch" that can be activated by pulling up the tone pot to produce a powerful, thick tone. This expands the sonic palette of the passive circuit, boosting the player's expressiveness and creativity.

■Luminlay Side Dots

Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side position markers are standard on all models. These are highly valued by professional musicians for their visibility on dimly lit live stages and concert halls, significantly reducing the risk of losing your hand position during performance.

■GOTOH® GBU510C-12 Tuning Machines

The base model features GOTOH® GBU510C-12 tuners, known for their compact and stylish appearance. GOTOH’s precision engineering combined with a 20:1 gear ratio ensures exceptionally stable and smooth tuning.

■Frets

Equipped with Jescar® FW55090NS (※9662NS) medium-jumbo frets, measuring 1.4mm in height and 2.28mm in width.

■Puretone® Jack

All models feature the Puretone® jack, renowned for its secure grip and low-noise performance. Unlike conventional jacks, it uses two contact points each for the hot and cold terminals, holding the plug firmly from both sides. This design resists loosening over time and ensures reliable performance for the long haul.

■Centralab® Oil Capacitors

Following the development of the new pickups, the capacitors were also meticulously re-evaluated. After testing numerous candidates, Centralab® oil capacitors were selected for their perfect synergy with the electronics. They offer excellent responsiveness to player nuances and a bright, forward character that defines the new Momose tone.
