C.F. Martin D-X2E Brazilian 12-String Acoustic-Electric GuitarThe unmistakable shimmer of a Martin 12-string, the power of a Dreadnought, and the durability to make it an everyday instrument. The Martin D-X2E Brazilian 12-String combines a spruce top, Brazilian rosewood-pattern HPL back and sides, scalloped X-bracing, comfortable modern playability, and Martin E-1 electronics in an exceptionally versatile acoustic-electric.
There's nothing quite like the sound of a great 12-string.
That extra octave shimmer can turn a simple open chord into something enormous, add dimension behind a vocal, and create textures that a conventional six-string simply cannot reproduce.
The C.F. Martin D-X2E Brazilian 12-String brings that unmistakable sound into Martin's player-focused X Series.
Its full-size D-14 Fret Dreadnought body provides the projection and low-frequency foundation a 12-string needs, while a genuine spruce top supplies clarity and definition. Brazilian rosewood-pattern HPL back and sides provide an attractive rosewood-inspired appearance with the stability and durability that make the X Series so practical.
Available from Northeast Music Center, this is a 12-string designed to be played—not treated like something too precious to leave the house.

A 12-string isn't simply a guitar with six additional strings.
It changes the entire character of the instrument.
The octave courses create natural chorusing and harmonic complexity around every chord. Higher paired strings add shimmer while the Dreadnought body supplies the low-end foundation necessary to keep the sound from becoming thin.
The result is wide, dimensional and immediately recognizable.
For strumming, singer-songwriter accompaniment, classic rock, folk, worship music, alternative music, or adding another texture to a recording, a 12-string can occupy a musical space no ordinary six-string can duplicate.
And the D-X2E puts that sound into an instrument you can comfortably use every day.
SPRUCE TOP + BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD-PATTERN HPLThis combination makes a lot of sense for the X Series.
The top—the primary vibrating surface of an acoustic guitar—is spruce.
Martin pairs it with Brazilian rosewood-pattern High Pressure Laminate back and sides.
It's important that we describe that accurately on the Northeast Music Center website:
This guitar does NOT have solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides.
The back and sides are HPL featuring a Brazilian rosewood visual pattern.
That's actually part of the D-X2E's appeal. HPL provides excellent resistance to environmental changes and the inevitable bumps associated with regular use while giving the guitar an attractive rosewood-inspired appearance.
This is meant to be a working Martin.
Take it to rehearsal.
Put it on stage.
Bring it to a songwriting session.
Travel with it.
That's exactly where the X Series makes sense.
SCALLOPED X-BRACINGThis is another specification I would make visible because the current-generation model has an important upgrade over the older D-X2E 12-String.
Martin uses scalloped X-bracing with spruce braces in the current D-X2E Brazilian 12-String.
The previous generation used non-scalloped bracing.
That's an important distinction when customers encounter specifications for both versions online.
The current model is designed to deliver the strong projection and bass response expected from a Martin Dreadnought while allowing the top to respond musically beneath twelve strings.
A 12-STRING DESIGNED TO BE COMFORTABLETwelve strings naturally create more tension and a different playing experience than six.
Martin has therefore paid particular attention to the neck and string spacing.
The current D-X2E uses a PA Profile neck with High-Performance Taper, a 1 7/8-inch nut width, refined string spacing, and a thinner fingerboard with a gently beveled comfort edge.
That wider nut provides the room necessary to manage six paired courses without making the instrument feel unnecessarily cumbersome.
The 25.4-inch scale maintains the familiar long-scale Martin response and contributes to the projection and definition you want from a large 12-string acoustic.
And every D-X2E Brazilian 12-String is Plek'd, another worthwhile specification for an instrument where clean setup and accurate fretwork are particularly important.
MARTIN E-1 ELECTRONICSThe current model also moves away from the Fishman MX system found in the discontinued version.
The D-X2E Brazilian 12-String uses Martin E-1 electronics.
The system gives you:
Volume
Tone
Phase
and a built-in chromatic tuner.
That makes the guitar ready for stage use without requiring an aftermarket pickup installation.
And on a 12-string, an onboard tuner is particularly welcome.
There are, after all, twelve strings to tune.
A 12-STRING YOU DON'T HAVE TO BABYThis may be the strongest selling point of the D-X2E.
There are spectacular high-end Martin 12-strings available for players and collectors who want premium tonewoods and traditional construction.
But sometimes that's not what the job requires.
Sometimes you want a Martin you can take everywhere.
That's where the D-X2E excels.
The HPL back and sides provide durability.
The spruce top gives you genuine acoustic response.
The Dreadnought body supplies projection.
The E-1 system makes it stage ready.
And Martin includes a softshell case from the factory.
At Northeast Music Center, we think that makes this guitar particularly compelling as a player's first 12-string, but it also makes enormous sense as a second or third acoustic for an experienced musician who wants that unmistakable 12-string texture available whenever a song calls for it.
WHY BUY YOUR MARTIN FROM NORTHEAST MUSIC CENTER?A Martin guitar deserves to come from people who understand Martin guitars.
