Vintage Ludwig 8x12 Tom Black Cortex 6-Ply Blue/Olive Badge Modular Mount

Vintage Ludwig 8x12 rack tom in Black Cortex, dating approximately to the late 1970s/early 1980s era. Features a 6-ply Ludwig shell with natural interior, rounded-corner Blue/Olive badge, large Classic lugs, Ludwig Modular tom mount and original internal tone-control muffler.

The drum is in very good overall vintage condition and presents extremely well from a few feet away. The Black Cortex finish remains attractive and glossy with normal cosmetic wear from age and use.

The chrome hardware is quite clean overall. The Classic lugs look great with very little pitting and no significant rust. The hoops do show some age-related wear and areas of chrome/plating loss. The Blue/Olive badge has scratching and wear, and there is a noticeable area of tom rash/scuffing directly below the badge. I have included close-up photos showing these areas clearly.

The 6-ply shell and bearing edges appear solid, and the natural interior is clean. The original Ludwig internal tone-control muffler is present and operates smoothly.

Heads:

• Remo Clear Pinstripe batter head – used but in good condition with plenty of life remaining

• Ludwig Rockers-logo resonant head

A nice vintage Ludwig player's tom and a great candidate for someone completing or expanding a Black Cortex Ludwig kit.
