The Sabian SBR1402 14 inch SBr Hi Hat Cymbal Pair gives beginner drummers clear contrast between closed and open playing. Press the cymbals together for a tight, clean voice that helps define timekeeping. Open them for a louder, fuller response that brings energy to grooves and accents. The 14 inch size keeps the setup familiar and practical, while the medium weight pairing supports consistent playing across closed and open positions.

Clear Closed and Open Contrast

The defining benefit is the change in sound as the cymbals move. Closed, the pair produces tight, clean sounds for timekeeping and crisp rhythmic patterns. Open, the pair becomes loud and full, giving the drummer a broader sound for transitions and stronger moments. This clear contrast helps new players hear how foot pressure and cymbal position shape a groove without complicated setup changes.

Hammered and Lathed Brass

The brass construction features hammered and lathed surfaces with a natural finish. Sabian describes the SBr series as bright and focused. The worked surface adds visible texture, while the medium weight specification provides a practical balance for learning closed strokes, open notes, and pedal controlled phrasing.
