Rosewood   fretboard

52mm slotted luthier bone nut

Nicely set-up with Aquila Alabastro 97C  Medium tension  which suite the guitar well.

********

Maple wood binding

Nicely fretted

Thick rosewood tipped heel

even  the internals are very neat, a sign of a good maker.  smooth  pine inner  traditional  heel.

********

Concert scale so will  suits people with a good hand span and more advanced playing  technique  looking to upgrade.

Low action &  the guitar feels a pleasure  to play even complex phases so the set-up balance  feels perfect to me.

Flat  secure bridge &  soundboard

Excellent frets, all dressed & polished.

I've cleaned, hydrated and treated the rosewood fretboard with lemon oil to protect against cold and the elements as rosewood can dry out.

** little fretboard chip at the 4th fret along the top edge (not in the fingerboard play area) which I've sanded smooth.  You can feel  it slightly at the top of the fretboard but only if you're  looking for it)**

No cracks & the guitar is structurally and sonically sound  in all aspect

Beautiful guitar

Not to be confused with MANUEL RODRIGUEZ E HIJOS Caballero.9 which are mass produced factory guitars.

I'm not sure if the luthier went on sell his name as a factory *brand.

I had a  MANUEL RODRIGUEZ E HIJOS Cabellero  years ago and it was an unplayable factory toy with stock plastic parts and tuppance strings, awful guitars for beginners only.

The romance of Spain sells cheap crap when bigger globals get their mits on anything once good.

This guitar  has no resemblance of the aforementioned  and is a hand made & fine quality with fully age 15+ years spruce.

I've dated to around 2000-2005 from the amount of wear this  had  &  the old tuners which I updated.

I've also  seen a similar 2005 model 10.with the same label.

☆Optional waffle ☆

This came to me in very poor condition with many scratches it took me days to sand what I could out so the finish is now towards satin and very smooth.

I'm not a fan of thick gloss and sheen which is not conducive to sound anyway but you have the odd mark that you can see through to the  spruce.

Few dinks at the tip of the nicely carved headstock.

There is an area of the binding at the bass that  I've  sanded back which is secure but cosmetically visible as a flaw.

I noticed how well the headstock had been carved  when I replaced the old tuners and you can see the brushed Koa like a work of Art.

I spent approx 15 hrs  refurbishing the guitar and perfecting the set up.

I shaped the saddle myself from a blank and even with low action you have  a good string break angle off the bridge.

Frets are all level, no sharp or uneven

The guitar has been set-up with  attention and care.

Binding and purfling is all secure but has cosmetic imperfections.

The  guitar sounds  great with a bright clear tone & pronounced  trebles *even high up the fretboard where lesser guitars start to dampen.

I'll measure the body dimensions later today but the Spanish template rarely differs.

Few pale spruce  marks where I've had to go deeper on the sanding to get  finish dings out so **so not for cosmetic perfection seekers**.

Most notable opaic  bottom left lower bout. Looks more like a ghost or water mark, you can't feel it.

_____________

I've written "good" condition which means will have wear but It's been sanded to a high standard evenly.

I'm a classical guitar  technician & and make sure guitars have no hidden problems so buy with confidence.
