This very rare Ludwig late-70s stainless steel drum kit is in very good, fully-working condition.
Shells:
The shells are excellent condition with no rust or dents, just some minor scratches in a few places and the hoops are very well kept with little or no pitting. The lugs are all original and fully working. The internal dampeners on the toms are fully working.
Heads:
The batter heads on the 13″ and 16″ toms are original and show signs of usage but sound good. The 14″ tom has the closest match, a new Remo Smooth white emperor. The paint on the hoops has been restored to its original finish. The bass drum batter side head has been replaced with a new Remo Pinstripe bass drum head. The bass drum resonant head was originally the batter side head and you can see an indent where the bass pedal beater struck. The original resonant head is available as well but a large centre hole has been roughly cut. The original dampening felt for the bass drum is also available. The resonant heads on the toms are Remo Ambassador clear.
Hardware and Fixtures
The spurs for the bass drum are original, as is the tom mount. The toms hold well on the mount. The legs on the floor tom are original.
Overall the sound of the kit, as played by John Bonham and others, is unique, full and very distinctive.
