Hi, I'm Mark Whitcomb, Wurly enthusiast, recording studio co-owner and music producer at Madison's DNA MUSIC LABS (est. 2001). I have been recording and producing tracks in all genres, and together with co-owner Brian Daly, have made tracks and loops for your favorite DAWs, some heard on on pop radio, in commercials and on many independent playlists. Having produced records for 20+ years, I've developed a good sense of how sound works and Wurlitzer restorations have become an extension of this skill. In 2006 I bought my first 200A, and became hooked. I restored that one, and have restored dozens since. I have developed a sense for what goes into making a great playing and sounding Wurly. In essence, they're just tone generators, but they're all different and it's not always obvious what it takes to mold one into a great instrument. Many challenges abound. The keyboards that I put up for sale here on Reverb.com have been carefully refined with respect to tone, feel and consistency in order to maximize expressionistic playing and become world class recording and performance tools. These are all instruments that I love to play too, and an instrument is only finished when there are no wild notes, no crackles, rattles, extraneous sounds, or anything that gets in the way of expressive playing.
