Early in the winter of 2024 I awoke to an epiphany of sorts while browsing through Facebook Marketplace, that my new calling is to be a conservator of fine guitars. A little about myself- I started playing when I was 10, Eddie Van Halen and Mark Knopfler and Randy Rhoads were my hero's, but my conservative upbringing wasn't very encouraging of that. However Ma and Dad let me take guitar lessons in the next town over and before long i was bleeding from the fingertips trying to bar chord an hideous high-actioned acoustic guitar on charts like 'House of the Rising Sun'. But I wanted to do the flashy stuff like Eddie, so I saved from my paper route, biked 10 miles to the music store, and purchased a new red Memphis strat with a laughably unusable stretchy tiger stripe strap and kept it at my best friends house where we would jam the VH kind of thing in our own way. Finally one day after I started bringing the guitar home and keeping it in my closet in secret- my Ma found it, and wouldn't you know they bought me a Peavey practice amp for christmas! Somehow some years later I found myself at the Berklee College of Music in Boston practicing six to eight hours a day, eventually studying with Charlie Banacos and those were some formative years for sure. Back then I had two guitars at the most- a nice acoustic and whatever electric I was practicing on at the time. The mode of existence back then was trading one guitar plus cash for another so I went through an Ibanez Japanese Artist before my first Gibsons and eventually finding my dream guitar the Parker Fly. Thankfully I got my 10 thousand hours in because before I knew it the paint had dried and I was living in Downeast Maine working as a chef, a carpenter, a glass blower, now a lobsterman and father of two and husband of one and no time to practice, but eventually I found my way back to guitars and in a way they have saved me. Guitar is my beloved passion of all time. I love the sound of them, the look of them, the feel of the neck and the body, the weight and substance and the feeling of power that they give me when I play. It's really all I want to think of. But life gets in the way lol. So now I spend time everyday looking for guitars that are leaving one home and needing to find a new one, and I go out there and save them and now bring them here for you.
