About Guitar House

Guitar House is a small business that I plan to enjoy running until the day I retire. I am a foreigner living in Japan, and over the years I discovered that Japan is home to countless hidden vintage guitar gems—found in flea markets, second-hand shops, private collections, and occasionally online through friends and acquaintances.

I genuinely love hunting for rare vintage guitars. The joy of discovering and owning them is priceless to me. Over time, my collection grew to the point where space became an issue, and naturally, buying and selling became the next step. More importantly, it allows these wonderful guitars to be enjoyed by players and collectors outside Japan.

My main goal is to build a strong reputation and long-term trust with my customers. I want Guitar House to be known as a respected and reliable seller on Reverb, where buyer confidence always comes first. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions before purchasing. If you need additional photos or details, just ask—I’m always happy to help.

All guitars I sell are personally played by me, rotated regularly, though some less often due to my work schedule. Because of this, I can confidently say that these guitars are playable and functional, unless otherwise stated clearly in the listing.

That said, it’s important to remember that most of these guitars are 50 years old, with some in the 30–40 year range. While they are playable, I strongly recommend having any vintage guitar professionally checked and set up before regular use, to ensure the best experience and long-term stability.

Many of these instruments were built during the golden era of Japanese guitar manufacturing, known for excellent craftsmanship and high-quality materials. A large number of them are Martin-inspired designs, offering classic tone and build philosophy at a fraction of the cost of their American counterparts.

I often tell friends that buying a made-in-Japan vintage guitar is a practical and rewarding choice. While they may cost slightly more than modern budget guitars, the tonewoods used—especially in the 1970s and 1980s—are now scarce or no longer available. With a proper professional setup, these guitars often deliver value and performance beyond their price.

You can rarely go wrong with a well-chosen Japanese vintage guitar—especially when buying from a seller who values honesty, transparency, and long-term trust.

Cheers, and thank you for your interest in Guitar House.
