I am a violin maker who owns a small violin shop in Seattle, WA. For amateur luthiers, you'll know what you are getting in to because I will tell you what the condition is and what work is needed. These instruments are from years of accumulation. Some are nice violins that need a good bit of work, some are fiddles that it really isn't cost effective for me to repair and sell, but would be a good deal for you to fix-up and play or sell. Some will just be wall hangers. I will also have fretted items-tuners, tailpieces, banjo and mandolin stuff.
New for 2019 I am offering a bunch of $500 outfits. I have waaaay too many instruments in my physical shop. These outfits will be good fiddles, with a case and a bow. All instruments will be playable, will not be in need of repair in order to be playable, although old repairs may be cosmetically unsightly, all will be stable. Not every old repair should be re-done. On some instruments it isn't financially viable, and eventhough you can make the instrument look better, it may not sound any better. I have more expensive instruments in my Seattle shop, and you may contact me if you are interested in such things. I have violins up to $30k, and bows up to 10k. I have fine, handmade instruments by living luthiers, and dead ones, as well...German, French, American, Chinese, Italian, English, and a few other countries of origin. Violas and Celli, as well as their bows. The restorable instruments will continue to be available, and if you have any questions please ask.
