DOWNES GUITARS builds 6- and 7-string solid body electric guitars for musicians after something a little different. The shape of a Downes guitar is carved for comfort in any playing position. A variety of woods for bodies, tops, necks, and fingerboards are selected to achieve a balance of aesthetics, functionality, durability, and sound. Electronics and components come from the best in the business: Bare Knuckle Pickups, Dimarzio Pickups, Hipshot, and Schaller, to name a few. Each Downes guitar also features a Stellartone ToneStyler passive tone control, giving players a huge palette of tonal options without the need for batteries. Every instrument also features a custom-made DOWNES GUITARS locking headpiece, made from hard anodized aircraft aluminum. Select instruments also feature electronics based on the designs and musical stylings of one of modern guitar’s most innovative artists, Chris Buono. Our instruments are hand crafted in Portland, Oregon.
