Consumer Music is an independently owned and operated music store in Vallejo, CA. We provide sales, service, lessons, rentals, and a recording studio. We have over 30 years of experience in music, service, pro-audio, and installations.

Consumer Music was founded by Brad Sears in 1986 in Concord, CA. It was started following the closure of Mau’s Music, owned by his brother, Michael Mau. The store began with humble beginnings with a few guitars and accessories. As it grew among the musicians of the East Bay, soon it was a complete store of instruments, accessories, rentals, and lessons. In 1989, Brad decided to open a second location in the heart of Vallejo on Tennessee Street. With the help of friends and unwavering motivation, the Vallejo store was born.

Early one morning, a fire broke out in the mattress store adjacent to the Concord location. Unfortunately, Consumer Music Concord fell victim to the disaster and was a total loss. Only a few charred guitars and memories remained to pick up the pieces and go forward again. Luckily, through sheer determination and an iron-clad will, Brad continued the business at the Vallejo location and has been going ever since.

Consumer Music always has and always will be an independently owned and operated business. We strive to serve our customers by providing for their needs and being available to service them with over 30 years of knowledge and experience. We serve our customers with respect and strive to honor their individual qualities, needs, and budgets. From the “starving Musician” to the locally reknown bands and touring groups, we are here to help you find solutions. We are not only here to sell you the products that you need, we are your local resource for questions you may have for service, lessons, and troubleshooting.

With over 30 years of experience, Brad has been consulting with and providing assistance in installed sound for many area churches, schools, community centers, and event venues. His passion is to qualify your needs and provide a comfortable scenario and service for each individual situation. He is personally involved with many local events, nonprofit fundraisers, and community activities and is recognized as a leading resource for many area businesses for their pro audio needs.
