Due to our status as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and IRS rules, we cannot offer returns on sold items and can no longer accept offers. Please purchase only if you are 100% sure you want to own an item. Thank you.
Back when we accepted returns, nearly 90% of those who got a return were audited because of concerns over money laundering, example: making a payment or donation to a nonprofit, then getting money back, is a red flag to the IRS. We ceased accepting returns in 2005 due to this.
Founded 2000. Amati Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity dedicated to supporting musicians. We have provided support to over 21,000 young musicians in 16 countries. Through the generous financial support and donations of musicians from around the world, we've been able to place loans and gifts of violins, violas, celli, guitars, amplifiers and pedals that have changed the lives of young performers.
Through the generosity of people and companies we have equipped talented young performers with brands like Heritage, Gibson, Paul Reed Smith, Fender, Aristides, Godin, Hamer, Milkman, Hiwatt, Marshall, Swart, VHT, and Blackstar and stringed instruments by makers such as Stradivari, Guarneri, Amati, Ruggieri, Vuillaume, Marchi, Hill, White, Goss, and Alf.
We occassionally sell high quality musical instruments in order to raise funds for our programs. We often have the opportunity to have instruments signed by artists and luthiers but do not generally charge a premium for these instruments based on autograph value.
Why we sell instruments: In many cases, we may own a high qualify violin, viola, cello or guitar that we can sell for a few thousand dollars. With the proceeds we can purchase violin kits for kids which we have made to our specifications at a cost of less than $500 per kit. These violin kits would sell for $2000 - $3500 in a store.
We are open 1pm-5pm PST, Monday-Wednesday.
