REVERB HOW TO'S

How to Ship Eurorack Modules, 500 Series Modules, or Other Modular Gear
Eurorack modules, 500 Series recording modules, and other synth and pro audio modular gear may be small, but they are delicate pieces of equipment that need to be handled, packaged, and shipped with care.
Especially for their size, they also happen to be fairly expensive instruments, so you don't want to risk any damage at all. Follow these guidelines to make sure it arrives safe and sound at its new home.

The basic rule is: You don't want the module moving with its shipping box, and you want plenty of padding around it so that nothing is damaged, even if the carrier knocks it around a bit.

Do not ship a module of any kind within an envelope or loosely within a shipping box. It doesn't matter if the envelope is lined with bubble wrap. Just don't do it.

What You'll Need
  • The manufacturer's box that came with your module (or if you don't have one, ideally a box of similar size)
  • A larger shipping box that is 2" to 3" larger than your module's box (you can order packs of small shipping boxes from Reverb here)
  • Heavy packing paper, foam sheets, bubble wrap, or similar packing material
  • Packing tape
  • A plastic bag (gallon-sized Ziploc work well, or equivalent)

Steps to Pack Securely

Once you've completed all these steps, you're ready to ship.
Wrap it Up

Wrap the module in bubble wrap, foam sheets, or heavy packing paper, so that it's snug in its manufacturer's box. If you don't have a manufacturer's box or a replacement, wrap the module in plenty of bubble wrap.

Secure the Ribbon

For Eurorack modules in particular, secure the ribbon or any other cable or connector so that it can't move around during transit.

Separate Spare Parts

Wrap any separate power supply separately. Tape it down either within the manufacturer's box or in your shipping box so that it can't knock around and damage the module in transit.

Protect from the Elements

Place the module box or the bubble-wrapped module within the plastic bag. This will help protect against water in case of rain or snow.

Line the Box

Line the bottom of your shipping box with a few inches of packing material.

Place It

Place your module's box within the shipping box. Fill up all the empty space within the shipping box with packing material.

Add a Note

Mark the package for "Fragile" shipping. Note "Do Not Stack," and "This Side Up" in the appropriate spots.

Apply a Shipping Label

Apply your shipping label and double-check it is correct.

Check Your Work

Give the box a little shake to make sure the module is secure.
