We've been exploring the cavernous palooza of new gear that is the NAMM convention out in Anaheim, and today, we had a chance to stop by a few booths for a look at some of the most exciting pieces on offer.
In the video above, Reverb's resident guitar guy Joe Shadid spends some time chatting with Tosin Abasi about some new developments with his brand Abasi. "We were offering custom-made instruments previously," Abasi tells Joe, "and now we're trying to do more production-based stuff—with some surprises in our USA Custom Shop."
One of the new guitars on offer from Abasi will be a super thin, super lightweight multi-scale 7-string that's made in Japan. The coolest thing about it its asymmetrical neck, which is thinner at the top and thicker toward the bottom and aims to suit players who like really thin and flat necks but, as Tobin puts it, "would benefit from the thumb positioning of a thicker neck."
There's even more in the works for Abasi—including a more wallet-friendly model featured in the video above—so be sure to check it out. For more news from the NAMM show, click the orange banner below.
