True pedal heads will recognize the name Tom Cram. The former Digitech and DOD designer launched his own Spiral Electric FX a few years back, and since then he's been creating top-tier effects. With each pedal handmade by Tom and featuring designs that recall custom motorcycles, they've become prized items on lots of players' pedalboards (including Sarah Lipstate's).
Spiral Electric's latest—the Demhe Fuzz—offers the same detailed design and top-of-the-line circuitry at a more affordable price point. It's a do-it-all dirt box that goes from purring overdrive to raging doom metal tones—all thanks to the interplay of the Gain and Bias knobs, along with the two clipping options.
In a first for Spiral Electric, the Demhe Fuzz comes in a small pedal enclosure, freeing up pedalboard real estate. According to the company, features include:
- Silicon fuzz with dual voicing
- Separate gain and bias controls
- Tons of output
- Detail control to tame highs
- New "smol" form factor
- Related to Carcosa Fuzz (Demhe Mode)
- True bypass
- Top jacks
