Video: Line 6 Spider V 120 Demo

If you play guitar, chances are you’ve had a run-in with the Line 6 Spider series. They’re one of the most popular modeling amps ever produced, and for good reason: they offer a lot of sounds at a price beginners can get behind.

Most of us have memories of sitting our bedrooms, toggling through channel emulations and toying with effects knobs and ending up with distorted, goofy sounds that were fun to play with. Then most of us graduated to tube amps and better gear, leaving that Spider combo behind to teenage memories of futzing with “Smoke on the Water.”

Like that high school guy or girl you dated and forgot about who came to the reunion looking better than you could have imagined, Line 6 has breathed new life in the series with the Spider V. Available 30, 60, 120, and 240 watt renditions, these reconceived amps are now pro-grade combos ready for jam sessions and shows alike.

Each Spider V combo sports a new full-range speaker system, USB connectivity, and over 200 new effects and emulations including Iconic Rig and Artist presets for classic tone right out the gate. On the 120W and 240W models, Line 6 adds a built-in wireless transmitter that charges on a port built into the amp.

Considering all this comes in at a price tag of around $400 for the 120W version, the Spider V definitely continues the tradition of offering a complete practice and recording solution at an incredibly affordable price.
