For this final installment in our Isaiah Sharkey video series, Isaiah went back to the roots of his sound—the melodic lines of gospel quartets, distilled through the fretwork of R&B luminaries like Curtis Mayfield and Bobby Womack.
In the video above, Isaiah demonstrates how the licks that fill out a chord progression can take on a life of their own, playing additional melodies throughout a song. Like Mayfield's runs, when played with grace and fluidity, the played melodies sound is if almost they were sung.
Poised to take center stage as he fuses together his background in rock, gospel, jazz, R&B, blues, and funk to create an original sound with an unmistakable dose of soul, Isaiah's first digital album is now available. Check out his debut release entitled Love.Life.Live.
