If you're looking for a newer, more modern acoustic guitar, look no further than the new line from UK manufacturer, Avian Guitars. Though the company has been in business since 2010, this year they are relaunching their line with three new guitars – the Skylark Deluxe Fan Fret, Songbird Deluxe, and Dove Deluxe.
The Skylark Deluxe Fan Fret is the futuristic looking guitar that Jim opens up the above video playing. This guitar features a quite unconventional body shape with an arrow-like soundhole at the top and a silhouetted partial "demi-cutaway." The next guitar in the line is called the Songbird Deluxe and features a more traditional body shape with the same demi-cutaway as the Skylark. The Dove Deluxe is, finally, the most traditional looking of the three guitars being that it is a modern take on a 19th century French parlor guitar.
Run by Michael Bashkin and designed by him and Harry Fleishman, these guitars are beautifully unique boutique guitars that easily align with offerings from Greenfield Guitars, Lowden, Coastal Guitars, and others. But unlike the aforementioned, these guitars remain at a price point of under $2,000 that any non-professional player can get behind.
