Like (probably) many of you, we didn't know there were gain stages hiding within everyday liquids. But sometimes it takes a creative genius bold enough to explore the fringes of physics and sound to let us know that, in fact, nail polish is a pretty good carrier of high-gain tones. Or that you can add a bit of coffee to tame it down.
To be honest, we're still not entirely sure how it works, but Rainger FX's new Minibar Liquid Analyser Overdrive is one of the most interesting pedal concepts we've seen at this year's NAMM convention.
It ships with an empty compartment, which you are to fill to your heart's content with any and all manner of liquids. Experimentation is key here. Just pour a shot of Coca-Cola or whiskey or whatever else into the compartment, switch the pedal on, and discover your own favorite liquid gain carrier.
