Over the last year, we here at Reverb have been stoked to partner with Alex Lifeson and his company Lerxst on the release of a number of signature musical creations drawn from the Rush guitarist’s singular tone journey. Today, we're even more excited to unveil the newest Alex Lifeson x Lerxst offering—the Grace guitar.
Grace is the latest entry into Lifeson's signature guitar series, and was created in partnership with innovative Canadian manufacturers Godin Guitars. The model is a modern reimagining of Lerxst's eye-catching red Hentor Sportscaster with a mirrored pickguard, which Lifeson played throughout the recording and touring of Rush's Grace Under Pressure album.
Lifeson initially gravitated toward the Hentor Sportscaster platform in the 1980s because it gave him the perfect mix of playability and tonal versatility. As his sonic sensibility expanded to include more delay and modulation effects alongside his clean and overdriven sounds, he continued to tinker with the idea until he had customized a series of instruments that offered him the best of all of this, and more.
With the new Grace model, Lifeson captures all of what he fell in love with in the original model while also introducing state-of-the-art hardware choices and modern craftsmanship that primes the instrument for the next generation of players.
"We were blown away by the positive feedback we got from the release of Limelight earlier this year and knew that we wanted to do another one,” said Lifeson. “With Grace, we wanted to pay tribute to the 40th Anniversary of Grace Under Pressure by building off of my favorite guitar from that period and—much like Limelight—evolving the concept to create an instrument with a sound and playability that would speak to modern players."
