Video: Akai MPC X Demo with Johnny Bravo

Ever since Akai announced its new MPC models — the Live and the heftier X — back in January before winter NAMM, we've been itching to see what these new units can do. Both models are meant to compete with successful contemporaries like Ableton's Push and Maschine, but the Akais differ in that they can be used on their own sans a laptop.

With the MPCs' release date of October 2nd fast approaching and with preorders already rolling in, we invited Johnny Bravo into the studio to give us a more in-depth look at the MPC X.

In the four videos above, Johnny demonstrates two of his favorite features of the MPC X: the step sequencer and automation. He also show us how to use the MPC like a DAW, recording live audio directly into the unit, and demonstrates how to use the sampling and edit grid.
