One could say that Reverb is the world's home for music gear, and it's quite a big house at that, with millions of listings available for sale at any given moment.
Using our site's search filters is one of the best ways to find the gear you want—and at the price you want to pay.
Unsure of where to start? Let's go over the basics and then refine our technique from there.
If you know the exact make and model of the piece of gear you're interested in, then you're already well on your way.
But for a lot of us, understanding the spread of choices and comparing similar products is an important step in our decision-making.
After starting your query (whether broad like "stratocaster" or "moog" or specific like "Boss BD-2"), utilize the search filters to help limit the results.
- Condition: While default results will show all conditions from Brand New to Non-Functioning, you likely have your own preference. You'll almost always find better deals in Used and B-Stock, so give those a shot.
- Category: The default results here can change ("moog," for example, may return synths only, even if you're in the market for Moog's Moogerfooger pedals). So make sure the category selected matches your interests.
- Brand: Especially for models built by multiple companies (like Stratocasters), this filter is incredibly useful. Make sure you've selected all the brands you might want to see.
From there, you can use more filters to see only the gear that most interests you.
- Price: As tempting as collector-grade gear can be, save your wallet by setting a maximum price. Conversely, you can set a minimum to take out some of the noise from lower-end models that match your query.
- Location: In our app, you can start your search with local listings, while on our website you can set a distance for sellers within a local area. This is a great way to find gear for local pickup or otherwise save on shipping costs.
- Further refinements: We have lots of other filters too: for year range, for listings with free 2-day shipping, those that offer financing, and more. Don't be afraid to get fancy with it.
Pro tip: Set the maximum price of your search a little higher than you want to spend. Add the gear you like to your Favorites or make the seller an offer—there's a great chance you can knock some money off of the listed price.
Often, the best stuff on Reverb doesn't last very long. Another happy buyer will have scooped up your dream gear before you even have the chance to see it.
So once you've made a search and refined it with filters, smash that heart button to save it. You'll then have that Saved Search in your personal Reverb Favorites and can add it to your Feed. Then, when newly listed items match your interests, you can be the first to see them.
Pro tip: If you're in the market for a particular piece of gear, the combination of Saved Searches and Watching listings that match can't be beat for finding deals.
