Make Noise Polimaths

Hot on the heels of the newly released MultiMod and Jumbler comes another Make Noise module: the Polimaths. Like the previous two releases, this module is part of the brand's new Universal Synthesizer System series, which takes a new analog approach to multi-voice/multi-channel electronic instruments.

The Polimaths function generator follows up the popular Maths module, taking things up to eight channels from the original's two. It also packs a bunch of new functionality—features such as activate, spread, channel index, and span—and includes an oscillation section for creating more complex envelope shapes.

Make Noise anticipates that the Polimaths will be available by the end of this summer.

Oxi Instruments' Oxi One MKII

What's new with the MKII?

The new MKII version of the popular OXI One aims to provide fans with even more of what made the original an inspiring tool for creation and performance.

The most-requested feature was more tracks, and the MKII delivers on that front with support for eight independent sequencers (up from the original's four) allowing for up to 64 tracks when using multitrack mode.

The OXI One MKII also features a more configurable workflow, with additional mode buttons for increasing functionality and making customization easier. Check out the video for a more in-depth look at what else is new.

UDO Audio Super 8 Plus & Ribbon Controller

UDO Audio unveiled a big, 20-voice upgrade to their popular Super 8 model. The upgrade comes in the form of a pair of cards that will be available to anyone who already has the Super 8 model.

Also new for 2025 is the brand's RBN-1 Ribbon Controller, which was unveiled a few months ago. Those familiar with the UDO Audio Gemini will already be familiar with this ribbon controller as it's a feature of that synth, but now players can take the ribbon and connect it to any synth they'd like.

Messenger: How Does Moog's Latest Monosynth Compare?

It's a battle royale of monosynths in our Moog Monosynth Madness video.

Moog has unveiled the Messenger for Superbooth 2025, leading to some snarky commentary from synth heads that can be summed up with, "Oh yeah, another Moog monosynth? What's new?" Well, we're here to tell ya.

We put the Messenger to the test against 7 other monosynths from Moog's present and past, including all-time classics like the Minimoog Model D, modern classics like the Mother-32 and SubPhatty, and a whole lot of subtractive synthesis flavors in between.

How does it compare? Watch the full video to see. The Messenger is available now for $899. All other synths in the video can be found abundantly on Reverb.

Frap Tools' Magnolia

Frap Tools' video on the making of the Magnolia. (In Italian, so use captions if you aren't fluent.)

With a decade of Eurorack module-making experience under their belts, the crew at Frap Tools is showcasing the Magnolia, the company's first keyboard-based synth.

The 8-voice analog thru-zero FM polyphonic synth also includes waveshapers and wavefolders, and "fat resonant filters" in an attempt to merge West Coast synthesis and subtractive sounds.

Add to this the sleek aesthetic of the front panel, and you'll see why it became one of the talks of the show even before Superbooth began. Two pre-production units will be displayed at the show, while Frap Tools hopes to have production units available as early as this summer.

1010music Bento

1010music's announcement video for the Bento creative sampler

Right before Superbooth gets underway, 1010music has announced the Bento, a more feature-rich "sampling production lab" in a slightly larger form factor than the rest of its line, while still being plenty portable.

The 24-bit flagship sampler offers eight assignable tracks, 16 pads, eight rotary knobs, and a 7-inch touchscreen, an onboard slicer and loop station, along with a library of instruments, sounds, and effects. There's also a flexible, scene-based sequencer, with the ability to create up to four sequences for each track.

The Bento is $899 and will begin shipping in mid-May.

Polyend MESS (Multi-Effect Step Sequencer) Pedal

1010music's announcement video for the Bento creative sampler

"Why sequence effects? Because it's cooler than not sequencing effects." That's the pitch from Polyend for the MESS. With 120 digital effects, you can begin by creating standard effects chains, but from there, you can sequence the individual parameters of each effect, adding as much movement, change, or unpredictability to your sounds as you'd like.

Polyend MESS will be available in late June for $599.
