Song Stories: Silversun Pickups' "Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)"

Even before their debut EP Pikul in 2005 and full-length album Carnavas in 2006, Silversun Pickups had developed a loyal following. So you can understand why some fans were confused when they were nominated for Best New Artist at the 2010.

Their 2009 album Swoon pushed them into the limelight, with the single "Panic Switch" surfacing on VH1, MTV and video games like Rockband and Rocksmith.

With a sound that blends Brian Aubert's delicate yet cutting vocals with thick, atmospheric layering and fuzz-driven riffery, Silversun Pickups have always been able to pull off quieter, reflective pieces with the same authority as their harder-hitting, deliciously dense rock songs.

This unplugged performance of "Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)" from their latest album is a great window into that range, showcasing a side of Silversun Pickups we don't get to hear often on the radio.
