PRS Guitars Launches SE A20E and SE A30E Acoustics

Paul Reed Smith Guitars has added two new models, the SE A20E and SE A30E, to its acoustic SE line, which PRS says is known for excellent quality and durability at more musician-friendly prices.

Both the SE A20E and the SE A30E sport the PRS 15.5” Angelus Cutaway body shape, the characteristic PRS headstock and bird inlays, and the x-brace/classical hybrid top-bracing typical of the PRS Private Stock acoustics. Undersaddle electronics with controls for both tone and volume offer extra versatility in both performance and practice scenarios.

The SE A20E completes its solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, as well as a rosewood bridge and fretboard, while the SE A30E boasts rosewood back and sides with an ebony fretboard and bridge. Also in the PRS SE series are the all-mahogany A10E and the SE Alex Lifeson thinline, which is designed to emulate his Private Stock model but at a more affordable price point.

“We are constantly touring we also are constantly getting our gear handled by random airport personnel and random stage hands,” said Trevor Young, guitarist for Grammy-nominated reggae outfit SOJA and PRS endorser. “I need a guitar that is going to sound as good as a high dollar guitar and something that I enjoy playing but don't have to be freaked out when I see the guy at the airport toss the road case. The A30E seems to have a very balanced, loud, full tone, and it translates amazingly through the piezo. The guitar itself is fantastic to play.”
