Music Gear We've Loved and Lost (Out On)

Maybe you didn't have the space. Maybe you didn't have the money. Maybe, in a moment of self-reflection, you decided you didn't really need it in your life. But you can still look back fondly on the gear that got away.

Reverb's Watch feature is our site's way of "favoriting" an item. You can use it to keep track of the gear you love. Just click the heart or "Watch" box and you'll then be able to see if it drops in price, if someone snags it before you do, or if it gets relisted.

It's also a cool way to see what gear on Reverb resonates the most with our audience. Below, you'll find some of the all-time most popular listings on Reverb that are now, unfortunately, not for sale. They must be making someone else very happy.

On your personal Watch List, gear that's gone is not gone forever. Check your Ended tab to revisit. (On our website, you can also click "Find more like this" to see similar inventory that is available.)

thinline super tele

This hard-to-come-by brilliant orange Thinline Super Telecaster was initially released as a part of Fender's limited-edition Parallel Universe line from 2018, which featured frankensteined hybrids of several of their guitar and bass models. Boasting a maple top and a custom Carbonita pickguard, there are currently none like it for sale on Reverb.

french connection

What do horror film soundtracks, Messiaen symphonies, and Radiohead albums have in common? The Ondes Martenot—among the earliest electronic musical instruments—which inspired Analogue Systems to create their coveted French Connection CV, gate, and trigger controller. Much like the original instrument, players can glide smoothly between notes by placing a finger through the ring below the keyboard and moving the playing hand from left to right.

sonic youth neve

Feast your eyes on this historic Neve A10047 Custom 51-Series Console came straight from Sonic Youth's Reverb Shop. Before it was acquired by the noise rock pioneers in 1999, it was commissioned by the National Film Board of Canada to handle mixes in the then-nascent 5.1 surround sound format and was pieced together from existing Neve components. Packaged in a wrap-around producer's desk setup, equipped with a patch bay and 19" racks, it was housed in the band's lower Manhattan studio—where it dodged damage during 9/11—before being moved across the river to Hoboken, New Jersey in 2007.

slingerland kit

This sparkly sixties Slingerland kit would have been right at home on Dick Clark's American Bandstand. The three-piece "jobbing outfit" package contained a 12x20 kick with replacement hoop and two all original toms—an 8x12 and a 14x14 floor.

mojotone blackout

North Carolina-based Mojotone has long been a DIYer's one-stop shop for amplifier kits, but they also manufacture excellent amplifiers in their own right. This alluring all-black tweed amp is equipped with the famous 5E3 circuit first used by Fender in 1957.

1972 p bass

When it comes to buying a classic Fender bass, sometimes you don't know the deal you've got in your hands until it's gone. This Precision bass 1972 came with its original case and appears to have seen its share of wear and tear, but the seller stood by its "incredible" tone. Here's to hoping this all-American original found a good home.

Like we said about, on your personal Watch List, gear that's gone is not gone forever. Check your Ended tab to revisit and find similar pieces of gear currently available.
