The Ludwig Black Beauty Snare, featuring the famous black nickel-plated brass shell, is part of what made (and continues to make) the legendary drum company’s name. Today, Ludwig announced a new take on the classic, with the release of its Raw Brass Snare.
Made with an aesthetic nod to the popular rustic-looking shells of contemporary custom builders like Q Drum Co. and A&F Drum Co., Ludwig is making its Raw Brass Snare with the same machinery and techniques behind the Black Beauty.
The new drums follow Ludwig's Raw Copperphonic Snare, released last year, which was the brand's first foray into the retro aesthetic.
Available in sizes 14”x5”, 14”x6.5”, and 14”x8”, the Raw Brass Snare touts an unfinished-looking yet smooth patina, as well as a new P88 strainer. They have a 1.2mm seamless shell and include 2.33 steel triple flange hoops. Find them now on Reverb.
