IK Multimedia Announces Paraphonic UNO Synth Pros | NAMM 2021

Today, IK Multimedia announced two new budget-friendly synthesizers, designed in collaboration with Italian boutique synth-maker Soundmachines: the standard 37-key UNO Synth Pro and its smaller, more compact desktop version.

The release of these two new analog synths comes after the success of IK's original monophonic UNO Synth, and you can see that the Pro versions are very clearly building on the original UNO's solid foundation. The Pros feature a dual-filter, three-oscillator paraphonic design, with 256 presets, a 64-step sequencer, and expanded CV/gate and audio connections. For synthesists looking for the ideal creative companion, this might just be it.

The three analog oscillator design offers continuously variable waveshapes, including pulse-width modulation, and the oscillators can also hard-synced for more harmonic complexity. The Pro version also adds a filter—a new SSI 2/4-pole LP filter with self-oscillation—to the original's two-pole OTA multimode filter, which can be used in series or parallel for a total of 24 possible filter modes.

With its 16-slot modulation matrix, routing the UNO Synth Pro and designing a sophisticated modulation scheme a breeze. It offers two full ADSR envelopes (one dedicated to the filter and the other to amplitude) that can be used to modulate anything from the oscillator pitch and waveshape to LFO speed. Players can create with four effect blocks that include an analog overdrive circuit from the original UNO, along with three new custom-designed digital effects: modulation, delay, and reverb. The Pros also include features like ring modulation for signature sci-fi sound and a white noise generation for a variety of percussive sounds and rises.

UNO Synth Pro and UNO Synth Pro Desktop

As aforementioned, the Pro also offers 256 editable presets, an onboard 64-step sequencer with step and real-time recording as well as over 80 parameters of automation, and a 10-mode arpeggiator to easily track patterns with a "chord mode" for taking advantage of the Pro's paraphonic design.

The UNO Synth Pro and UNO Synth Pro Desktop are available to preorder directly IK Mulitmedia now and are set to arrive on the streets early this year. In the meantime, add the UNO Synth Pro to your feed and/or add the UNO Synth Pro Desktop to your feed to get an alert when the first listings pop up on Reverb.
