Find of the Week: 1965 Dynacord Cora

This week's Reverb find is another true vintage rarity: a 1965 Dynacord Cora guitar model. Dynacord? you may be wondering, As in the audio electronics brand primarily known for amplifiers? Yep, that's the one.

Though it may be news to you, Dynacord very briefly dipped into the guitar building market back in the mid-1960s. This was while the brand was still based in Germany, long before being acquired by Bosch (in 2006). And when we say briefly, we mean very briefly. This cutting-edge Cora model was the brand's primary contribution to the guitar market, but only an estimated 130 of them were actually ever produced.

Exact details about the ultra-rare Cora guitars are somewhat scant, but it seems like Dynacord produced three or four variations of the model between 1965 and 1968. We've previously seen a couple of versions pop up on Reverb in the past: the red variant with gold hardware and trim, as well as the black version with chrome hardware/trim.

A while back, Dynacord also posted a picture of a model with a green finish and gold hardware to their Twitter account, which is one we've never seen before. This special Reverb listing, however, features what might be my favorite of the bunch—a striking blue finish with chrome hardware. The seller believes that this is the unaltered, original finish.

As you can see from the listing, this specific Cora appears to be in very good condition, with the seller promising that every switch, pot, knob, function, and pickup are all working perfectly. The fretboard has been oiled, the frets polished, and brand-new strings applied. If you're ready to add a vintage piece to your collection that you can play right away, this could be the one.
