EarthQuaker Devices Releases Special Edition Pedals for Valentine's Day

It’s that time of year again when love is in the air as the world gets ready to celebrate another Valentine’s Day. Our supermarkets have flooded with bright red, heart-shaped-box displays and our mailboxes with sale announcements from the local jewelry boutiques. It's only fitting, then, the gear industry gets in on the action.

This year, our pals at EarthQuaker Devices in Akron have stocked their shop with 15 special edition, Valentine's Day-themed chassis designs across ten classic EQD pedals. Though all of the pedals in this special edition series feature pink chassis, no two designs are exactly the same.

Each circuit's faceplate design is the same as it is on its standard version—the special edition Erupter, for example, features the same "bias" volcano as on the production model—but includes variations in the graphic's coloring.

On the bottom of each pedal, however, is where you'll find the most unique artistry. The pictures are all cute, hand-drawn scenes, ranging from a cat waiting behind a "kizzing" booth, to an anthropomorphic taco and slice of pizza holding hands, to a couple of moments of plant humor, and more.

But picking up one of these stompboxes isn't just about celebrating a national holiday. The proceeds from each of the Valentine's Day series pedals will be going toward the medical bills of Greg Boyd—a friend of EQD, drummer, booking agent, and man behind the counter at Square Records in Akron. After being injured in a motorcycle accident, Boyd is looking at a long road of recovery ahead, and the folks at EQD are hoping to do their part.

If you don't want to buy a pedal, but still want to lend a hand, you can donate directly to the Greg Boyd Fund here.
