DigiTech Announces SDRUM, a Guitar–Controlled Drum Machine

Brand new at Summer NAMM this year is DigiTech’s cutting–edge take on the groovebox, a holdover from the time when an electric organ sat in living rooms across America. With the SDRUM, DigiTech hopes to give guitarists a flexible set of pre–programmed rhythms to jam along to at home.

The SDRUM is intended as a practice tool, with preset kick drum, snare, and cymbal patterns playing at adjustable level, tempo, and grooves. Digitech formats the groovebox like a stompbox, making it an easy fit for any pedalboard. But the ingenious move is functionality that lets you program the SDRUM to follow your rhythm by simply strumming your guitar, as demonstrated in our video.

It has inputs and outputs for guitar and an effects chain, meaning you never have to bother disconnecting all your cables before taking those riffs you've been practicing at home to the stage.
