C&C's Circles for Change Series Is Raising Money for Racial Justice

Like so many other musical instrument gear brands—from Caroline Guitar Company to Big Fat Snare Drum to Meris—that have sold or raffled off equipment to raise money for racial justice initiatives, C&C Drums is doing what it does best while contributing to a greater cause.

Launching the Circles for Change line of snare drums, C&C has created three wonderful and unique limited-edition snare designs, with proceeds going to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the ACLU, and The Bail Project, depending on which drum you buy.

Blue & Olive
Peach & Brown
Teal & Menta Green

The snares—which are available for $499 a piece—include:

  • Blue & Olive: A 8”x14” 12th & Vine 5-ply maple/poplar/maple with 7-ply maple reinforcement rings. Proceeds from this drum will be directly donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

  • Peach & Brown: 7”x14” 12th & Vine 5-ply walnut/poplar/walnut with 7-ply maple reinforcement rings. Proceeds from this drum will be directly donated to the ACLU.

  • Teal & Menta Green: 6.5”x14” 12th & Vine 5-ply maple/poplar/maple with 7-ply maple reinforcement rings. Proceeds from this drum will be directly donated to The Bail Project.

The decision to raise money for these organizations comes from an understanding that C&C wouldn't be around without the contributions of Black musicians.

In a press release, C&C writes:

C&C drums were born out of the thriving, vibrant jazz scene of Kansas City MO - Jazz is not indigenous to Kansas City, but it certainly came of age there. Bill Cardwell, via his classified ads in the local Thrifty Nickel, bought the drums left over from this golden era and brought them back to life - also bringing to life the company he and his son Jake run to this day. Jazz is one of the many gifts birthed by black culture, and C&C would not be here without it. We’re now in another golden era, an era of awakening and of justice - and Circles for Change is our small way of contributing to the fight for both. We stand with those who march, protest, speak out, and risk their freedom (and lives) to make this country a better place to live for everyone.
