Featherweight! Only 6.6lbs!!! The Modern Vintage Player Stratocaster, or “MVP Strat” for short. It is the latest evolution in our Dealer Select Master Vintage Player Series, built exclusively for Make'n Music in the Fender Custom Shop!!! These special instruments are designed to offer the Ultimate in Tone, Playability and Feel. Each guitar is hand-made to our specs to give the vibe of a classic vintage instrument with all the conveniences of a true modern player's piece. What’s different about the Modern Vintage Player Strat compared to our existing 50’s and 60’s inspired MVP models? Quite simply, we took a more modern approach to this one, incorporating some additional updated features like a 22 fret neck and Contour heel, as well as the RSD trem with a pop-in arm, and vintage-locking tuners. It also comes standard with our super cool “2-Step” Headstock design – which features a tiered Tele over Strat motif. This unique design is exclusive to Make’n Music.

Featherweight Construction

This particular guitar is one of our new "Featherweight" models Masterbuilt for us by Kyle McMillin. It features a special body with woods hand-selected for extreme lightweight and resonance. The tone is open and airy with incredible definition. Every frequency can be heard clearly. The lows are tight and focused. The midrange is clear and the highs sweet and sparkly. Never harsh or squawky. Exactly like your would imagine an incredible  Strat to sound!

Custom Wiring / Tonal Versatility

The pickup and electronics setup in this guitar is designed for maximum tonal versatility! We chose a duet of Hand Wound Vintage 60s Stratocaster pickups in the neck and middle position, to provide all the classic Strat sparkle and chime you could ever need, and paired them with the incredible sounding, Seymour Duncan JB Humbucker in the bridge position. This pickup is extremely versatile and covers all the ground from “hot vintage” PAF, through more modern and higher output type tones. It’s great for a variety of musical styles and splits well. Access to the unbelievable array of practical and usable sounds – all easily and efficiently selectable – comes from a 5-way Switch, wired to a Dual 500k/250K Master Volume control, and a pair of Tone controls (Tone 2 with a Push/Push for HB split).

Built for Comfort and Playability

The Modern Vintage Player Strat looks and plays like a dream thanks to several strategically selected and customized spec upgrades. The body features a core of premium Alder for the classic sonic character you are used to, with Paulownia "wings" for extreme lightweight. We also requested the "Elite Heel" for easier access. Our “MVP Perfect C” neck profile (.825”-.945”) is custom spec'd by Make'n Music and designed for comfort! It is carved from a piece of Roasted Quartersawn Maple, for the utmost in tone and stability, and capped with a dark Rosewood slab fingerboard for a rich look and feel. Easier chording, faster leads, and big bends are all made possible thanks to the 1 - 11/16" nut width, 9.5" fingerboard radius, and 6105 fret wire. Adjustments are a breeze too! The Truss Rod is accessible from the headstock, so you no longer have to remove the neck for a tweak. Slick!

Nitrocellulose Lacquer looks, feels and sounds great

This particular guitar also sports a beautiful, two-tone nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The body is Daphne Blue with Competition Orange Stripes, while our unique, 2-Step headstock sports a stacked, Tele over Strat design and is finished in a matching motif. A hand-distressed, Relic finish package is designed to replicate the look and feel of a well-cared for, yet well-played musical companion after many decades of use! Additional features and upgrades include the awesome RSD Trem with Pop-in Arm, and Vintage Locking Tuners.
