The Shure SM57 is a cardioid dynamic microphone built for close-miking drums, guitar amps, and other instruments. Its frequency response is tailored to emphasize presence while rejecting off-axis sound, and the internal pneumatic shock mount reduces handling noise. The steel body and mesh grille hold up to stage and studio abuse without added weight.
It connects via a standard three-pin XLR and requires no external power. The swivel adapter allows 180-degree positioning on a stand, and the compact size fits tight spaces around a drum kit or cabinet.
