“Ibanez” has released the “Ultimate Ergonomic Headless Bass.”

■Ergonomic Body Design

The EHB body design is based on ergonomics to ensure the instrument fits the player perfectly, whether playing standing or seated.

The horn is shaped to balance the body and neck while standing and to provide a comfortable grip, while the body curve on the high-string side is designed with a particular emphasis on fit and balance when playing seated.

The area of the body surface where the elbow rests features a contoured slope. Additionally, all body edges that come into contact with the body are finished with smooth rounded edges.

■Slanted Body Back

The back of the body features a bold cut that tapers toward the low strings. This design enhances the fit during seated playing and takes into account the angle of the player’s line of sight when viewing the fingerboard inlays.

Additionally, to facilitate access to the high-fret areas, the back of the horn on the treble side is cut in a scooped shape.

■Chambered Body

The body features chambering to allow for a more visceral sense of its resonance.

By directly feeling the vibrations inside the body—much like a hollow-body guitar—the player can better recognize the sound they are producing.

This also results in a slight reduction in weight.

■9-Piece Panga Panga/Walnut Neck with Graphite Reinforcement Rods

We’ve adopted a 9-piece neck combining Panga Panga and walnut.

Both are hardwoods, making it easy to achieve a clear sound image and characterized by a crisp, well-defined tone.

■Panga Panga Fretboard & Medium Stainless Steel Frets

We’ve adopted a Panga Panga fretboard, which, due to the hardness of the wood, adds a clear core to the sound image.

■Nordstrand? Custom Big Split Pickup

This model is equipped with a Nordstrand® Big Split custom pickup.

This split pickup delivers a rich low end with a warm tone. It naturally covers everything from sounds ideal for bass lines to funky slap sounds.

■Vari-Mid 3-Band EQ w/EQ bypass switch

As the abbreviation for “Variable frequency control for Mid EQ” suggests, this EQ offers flexible control over the midrange.

Typically, a 3-band EQ divides the frequency range into three bands—HIGH, MID, and LOW—and allows the user to boost or cut specific frequencies preset by the manufacturer. However, with the Vari-Mid, the user can freely adjust the focus of the midrange.

■MR5HS Mono Rail Bridge with Adjustable String Spacing Saddles

This model features a newly developed, proprietary headless-specific bridge.

Tuning is performed by turning the bridge end. While the stiffness of this turning mechanism has been a weakness in other manufacturers’ products, we’ve achieved smooth operation by combining our unique design with Teflon washers.

The saddles can be moved 1.5 mm to the left or right, allowing you to adjust the spacing between strings (string pitch) as desired within the range of motion. This enables fine-tuning to suit your playing style.
