Original Fender Pink Paisley Telecasters are among the rarest and most visually distinctive production models of the late 1960s. Introduced in 1968 alongside the Blue Floral Telecaster, the model was Fender’s response to the psychedelic “flower power” aesthetic that had emerged in California during the Summer of Love. Production lasted only a short time before the finishes were discontinued, with surviving original examples now considered some of the most collectible CBS era Fender guitars.
This 1968 Fender Telecaster Pink Paisley is an exceptionally clean and highly original example, finished in the iconic paisley foil finish with minimal fading to the outer edges, something rarely seen on these models. The elaborate finish was created using decorative foil applied beneath a translucent polyester clear coat, with a sprayed burst edge around the body. Over time these finishes were prone to fading and deterioration, making well preserved examples increasingly difficult to find.
The guitar remains internally and externally original throughout, with no modifications noted. The original hardware and electronics are present and correct, with readable potentiometer codes dating to the 17th week of 1966 (304 6617) and an AUG 68 neck date stamp. The finish remains in excellent condition overall, showing only light edge wear in places along with some typical clear coat checking lines.
A particularly well preserved example of one of Fender’s most sought after late 1960s models, complete with its original case in equally clean condition.
