About this listing
1969-70 Fender Telecaster Electric Guitar – lightweight Blonde ash body, based on 289190 serial number it could be either a very late 69 or early 70 production. Very cool guitar with lots of mojo and positive vibe. Original finish reflects lots of playing wear, has had a tasteful middle pickup route at some point in its life. Back has now been buffed out, front & sides were lightly addressed with RESTORE polish. Original white pickguard has mother of tortoise shell underneath, slightly warped on the bass side with a screw hole chip on that edge.Very light at 7lbs, .48 oz. (about 7 lbs. exactly),plays and sounds fantastic – was Plek’d this summer (receipt will be provided). Green ink code is 3 22 017 B. It had been re-fretted at least once when I got it and the frets were worn out (can provide photos). Fretboard was gently sanded maintaining the 7.25 degree radius and refinished with 3-4 coats clear satin nitro over new Stewmac Medium/Higher frets (2.34mm width, 1.22mm height) and new bone nut installed. Fretboard playing feel is as good as my 78’ LP Custom ebony board. Very thin .25mm card shim under the back of the heel (it arrived with a .55mm shim). Truss rod works as it should and is smooth to turn. Back of neck has a couple tiny little ding marks in first couple frets area and retains factory finish. Some loss of finish on the sides of the fretboard. Neck profile is the typical slightly fuller U-shape: thickness - 1st fret - 0.834", 9th fret - 0.869", 15th fret- 0.951"; width: At nut - 1.622", 9th fret - 1.933", 12th fret - 2.009", 21st fret - 2.186". Relief is measured at .003”/.008mm.The original neck pickup was recently re-wound by Fralin (I measured 6.87 ohms, receipt included). Replacement flat pole bridge pickup (6.98 ohms). Strung with D'darrio .010s, sounds like a piano unplugged.Knobs appear original, pots, 3-way switch and jack are modern CTS & Switchcraft, volume knob a little stiffer than tone knob. Unsure about provenance of control plate. Jack cup appears original; bridge and saddles appear original - due to rust, I swapped the three intonation screws and one of the saddle springs but the originals are included with the sale. Strap knobs appear original. Original case is in great condition, missing internal accessory lid strap, couple missing 'Fender' letters in case script. Ash tray included, not sure of provenance, but looks oldish - no odd smells in the case. The guitar is very resonant and plays & sounds amazing, would make a great gigging guitar.
