The "Recording Custom," considered the origin of Yamaha's system drums, is an evolved model of the legendary "YD9000 series." With its clear attack, sharp sustain, and clear beat definition, this top-of-the-line model, supported by Yamaha for over 30 years, has been redesigned with the utmost pursuit of quality improvement.
At the request of Steve Gadd, all models feature a unique out-bead (convex) design in the center of the shell. Compared to conventional metal shell snare drums, it achieves a more open sound. While maintaining a clear and powerful sound, it allows for comfortable control of volume and shell resonance, enabling a wide range of sound shaping.
The brass shell is characterized by its full, clear sound.
