For sale is a Revox PR99 MkII 7.5 / 15ips 1/4" two-track / stereo analog reel to reel tape machine that has been fully refurbished for reliability, performance, and long‑term stability by Roger Ginsley, Studer-certified tape technician. Every major failure‑point common to the Revox machines has already been addressed.

This machine also has an all new black anodized aluminum face plate with laser-etched button labels, new head block cover and surround, and new black-anodized knobs from Tech Trader in Austria.

🔧 Electronics — Fully Recapped & Modernized

• Complete Recap All electrolytic and tantalum capacitors (including Frako/ROE types) have been removed and replaced with high‑grade modern components. This includes the audio boards, transport control boards, and power supply.
• Safety Caps Updated - the time-bomb RIFA suppression caps that invariably cause a smoke show have been replaced with modern X2/Y2‑rated safety caps to eliminate the risk of cracking or smoke

⚙️ Transport — Smooth, Remarkably Quiet, Reliable

• Motors Serviced - Reel and capstan motors were cleaned, lubricated, and inspected. Any noisy or worn bearings were replaced.and lubricated. As a result, playback and fast-wind are remarkably quiet.
• Brakes Rebuilt - brake bands and tension assemblies were adjusted to factory spec, preventing tape looping, spilling, or stretching.
• New Pinch Roller has been installed

🎛️ Tape Path — Clean, Accurate, Optimized

• Heads Inspected & Lapping - Playback and record heads were inspected under magnification and lightly lapped to ensure proper tape contact.
• Demagnetization — The tape path demagnetized to reduce hiss, prevent HF loss, and to protect expensive master tape copies.

📏 Calibration — Dialed‑In Performance

• MRL Reference Calibration - this deck was calibrated using MRL reference tapes for NAB EQ at 7.5 or 15 IPS.
• Biased for Recording the Masters (BASF) SM900 tape.
