Built on a Legacy of Excellence

As successful as the American Classic series has been, players throughout the world continue to request longer versions of some popular models. The Extreme 5A answers that call directly. "Extreme" models within the American Classic series each feature an extra 1/2" of length, providing extra reach and power. This seemingly small addition transforms the playing experience, giving drummers a noticeable boost in leverage, stroke efficiency, and dynamic range — all without abandoning the familiar feel of the world's best-selling 5A profile.

Premium Materials and Craftsmanship

The Extreme 5A is crafted from premium USA Hickory. Hickory is a dense, resilient hardwood prized in stick-making for its ability to transmit energy efficiently from hand to drumhead while absorbing impact shock along the shaft. With bold designs, the Classics are turned from select hickory — a dense wood with little flex for a more pronounced sound. Hickory is also capable of withstanding a great deal of shock, making it highly durable. The tips are deeply back-cut for intensified cymbal response. Each stick in this value pack is shaped, sanded, and finished to Vic Firth's exacting standards, ensuring consistency across all four pairs.

Power, Reach, and Versatility

The Extreme 5A is like the best-selling 5A, but with added length for more power, leverage, and reach. The medium taper strikes a perfect balance — a medium taper gives you the best balance between the butt and the tip — making the X5A equally capable for rock, pop, and high-energy performance. The wood teardrop tip delivers a warm, full-bodied sound on cymbals, giving drummers expressive tonal control across the kit. Whether commanding a loud stage or playing through a demanding rehearsal, the VX5A3X5A1 value pack keeps you equipped with four matched pairs of one of drumming's most celebrated sticks, representing a smarter investment for any serious player.
