Northwest Vintage Guitars brings you a sweet sounding Fender Vibrolux Reverb Silverface from 1972.  We are very fortunate to see more than our fair share of vintage Fender tube amps.  This beauty came from a carefully procured collection of vintage instruments and amps.  It was the favorite amp of the prior owner for a very good reason - it sounds incredible.  If you know this era of Fender Silverface Amps, they still retain much of their pre CBS design but have an unmistakable sparkly and clean top end with a gentle scoop and an authoritative midragnge punch.  It's a monster.  The owner had all his amps serviced at a renowned local tech's shop and this one has been carefully maintained over the years and still retains much of it's original circuitry.  We opted to have our tech check it out and the old chalky white Mallory Caps were all swapped out for high quality replacements.  This really filled out the tone and gave it a bolder midrange.  He also completed the Blackface conversion in the Bias section by replacing one stock resistor for the proper value.

The pictures tell the story of a well maintained amp that was fastidiously cared for and genuinely loved.  The original iron dates to 1972 as does the chassis serial.  The Oxford 10L5 Speakers are a fantastic match for this circuit.  They handle the high headroom and mid punch very well giving up a smooth and even distortion when pushed.  One speaker is a replacement from 1975.  The owner always kept it covered when not in use.  The Ernie Ball casters are a standard era correct upgrade and they've held up well through the years.

The Reverb offers up plenty of lush, rich, full reverb.  And the Vibrato Channel steals the show.  We can't say it enough - a great sounding amp that sets the tone standard in our minds and ears for early Silverface amps from this point forward.  Operates flawlessly with a low noise floor and no issues.  Modern non-original cover included.  Footswitch is a modern reissue.  Tubes will need to be installed by the buyer if shipped.
