For Sale: 2012 Fender MIJ Japan Mustang MG-HO Hollow Body – Candy Apple Red | MIJ | Thinline F-Hole | Tweed HSC

Up for sale is a 2012 Fender MIJ Japan Mustang MG-HO Hollow Body in Candy Apple Red, complete with a non-original tweed hard-shell case.

This is a very cool and rare Fender Japan Factory Special Run (FSR) model, produced for a short period between roughly 2011–2013. The MG-HO is a semi-hollow “Thinline” Mustang featuring an F-hole design, giving it a unique look and a more resonant, open feel compared to a standard solid-body Mustang. These are not commonly seen, especially in this finish, and are highly appealing to collectors and players looking for something a little different from the traditional Mustang formula.

Condition

This guitar is in excellent condition (9.5/10). It shows only light surface scratches from very minimal use.

There are no cracks, breaks, or structural issues. The neck is straight, the frets are in excellent condition with no wear, and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. It has also been recently professionally set up and is ready to go.

A non-original tweed hard-shell case is included.

Electronics & Features

The MG-HO stands out thanks to its semi-hollow construction, which adds extra resonance and a slightly more open tonal response compared to a standard Mustang. The F-hole design also gives it a distinctive visual identity that sets it apart immediately.

It retains classic Mustang functionality, including the dual slider switches for pickup on/off and phase switching, allowing for a wide range of tones—from full, punchy sounds to thinner, more cutting out-of-phase tones.

Tone & Feel

This guitar has the snappy, articulate response Mustang players love, but with added warmth and resonance from the semi-hollow body. It’s a great fit for indie, alternative, surf, pop, and experimental styles.

The 24" short scale makes it very easy to play, while the slightly flatter 9.5" radius gives it a more modern, player-friendly feel compared to vintage-spec Mustangs.

At just 6 lbs 10 oz, it is lightweight, lively, and extremely comfortable in hand.
