What is the EAD50?

EAD (Electronic Acoustic Drum module) is a Yamaha-exclusive product that allows for stereo recording of the entire drum set simply by attaching a dedicated sensor unit, enabling easy expression by combining effects and sound sources.

The EAD50 is the latest model that further evolves this EAD concept. It naturally captures the sound of acoustic drums and smoothly blends it with electronic sounds, allowing for real-time sound creation with intuitive operation. It represents a significant evolution from the EAD10 in every aspect, including improved sound quality, operability, and expanded application scenarios.

From stage to studio, practice, lessons, and streaming, the EAD50 offers drummers a new playing style and expands their range of expression.

(Features)

Compared to conventional drum miking, which requires numerous microphones and cables, the EAD50 allows for high-quality recording of the entire drum set with a simple setup—attaching the sensor unit to the bass drum hoop.

Setup time is significantly reduced because sound checks for each microphone are unnecessary. Furthermore, because it incorporates many drum peripheral functions such as a mixer, effects processor, and drum sound module, the EAD50 allows for easy drum PA setup with just one unit.

The EAD50 is the simplest and smartest drum PA solution, solving the problems drummers have faced until now.

Traditionally, drum sound shaping relied heavily on the PA system, making it difficult for drummers to fine-tune the sound themselves. However, with the EAD50, drummers can create their own sounds, just like guitarists operate effects pedals with their feet. It features a quick and intuitive design, allowing for easy sound adjustments even during live performances. Additionally, using the dedicated app (EAD Touch), settings can be edited and fine-tuned on a smartphone or tablet screen.

Moreover, by connecting pads and triggers, additional sounds can be layered, easily creating hybrid sets that blend acoustic and electronic elements.

(FAQ)

What is the difference between the EAD50 and the EAD10?

The EAD50 is the next-generation, higher-end model of the EAD10. In addition to expanded microphone and trigger inputs, it also features a full range of analog output terminals, including Individual Out, and boasts 8-in/10-out USB multi-channel audio, a built-in sampler, looper, recorder, and an enhanced sound and effects engine.

Improved operability, routing flexibility, and overall design make it suitable for a variety of environments, including live performances, recording, and hybrid set construction.

Can the EAD50 be used independently?

Yes. The EAD50 can be used independently as an audio interface or sound module.

For recording an entire acoustic drum set, a dedicated DSU50 sensor unit can be connected. Up to five external microphones can also be used as needed.

Does it support recording and live streaming?

Yes. The EAD50 functions as an 8-in/10-out USB audio interface.

Multi-track recording and editing can be performed using the included Cubase AI software, and it can also be directly connected to streaming software for live streaming.

Can the EAD10 sensor unit be used with the EAD50?
