NOTE: The FON has faded away, so we could not determine exact year by the FON. The script Gibson logo and rosewood cross tailpiece (used due to the shortage of metal) make this guitar a Wartime build, most likely 1943 or somewhere in that range.

Here's The Run Down:

This Wartime L-50 is one of the few you'll find with a rosewood cross tailpiece and one of the few you'll find of this era that plays amazing and repair free. This is a Early 1940s Gibson L-50 Archtop Guitar that is a true survivor and plays/sounds beautifully as it sits. It is in the cosmetic condition as pictured, so be sure to view them all (more available upon request). I tried to take really good pics, so you can judge for yourself (see pics). The finish on this guitar has been professionally black lighted and has not been repaired, refinished or over sprayed in any way. This guitar does not need a reset and plays perfectly as it sits with plenty of room left on the bridge for adjustment. The neck is straight without issue, frets are in great shape and has great action with 3/32" of string height at the body. There is quite a bit of finish checking, but nothing loose and no actual cracks in the wood. The Original Tuning Pegs operate perfectly, but one button shaft is bent as pictured. Flaws will consist of finish checking, dings, chips, scratches, marks and/or flaws here and there as pictured, but still totally respectable for a guitar that's almost 90 years old. The face of the headstock is nice shape with the original logo clearly legible. The There will be discoloration and corrosion of all metal hardware as you would expect. this one is surely a true Gibson Wartime Survivor!

This Gibson L-50 plays awesome! Although I think its set up perfectly, everyone has their own preferences. If your not happy with its set up, it will be your responsibility and cost to have it set up to your liking. The action is below 3/32" at the body with a fat, straight neck and bridge that still has plenty of adjustment available both ways. It plays great from the nut to the body. Could use a new set of stings.
