The RD Artist Bass is one of the more unique basses that Gibson made in the late 70’s-early 80’s. This series was Gibson’s first active bass which was designed in conjunction with Moog. What you get is a stunning offset style body with an active preamp system that was very ahead of its time. The active preamp featured a 3-way switch to go between compression, expansion or bright modes. This bass has had a body repair in the past but has the wear you would expect from a bass of this age. It plays great and the original preamp system is still fully functional. This ships in a hard case. Do not miss out on an incredible piece of Gibson’s history!
