DW - Tris Imboden's, Chicago, Collector’s Series – 40th Anniversary Special Edition 7-Piece Set 2012 - Exotic Tamo Ash Veneer, With Gibraltar Rack System
The Tris Imboden Collection,
Tris Imboden’s professional career has spanned 6 decades and is going strong! From his first professional gig was in 1970 with the now legendary HONK, and his current gig with The Tris Imboden Yacht Stars, Tris has performed with A-list music icons including Neil Diamond, Kenny Loggins, Firefall, Richard Marx, Steve Vai, Roger Daltrey, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Chicago, Anita Baker, Julio Iglesias, Stevie Wonder and many more. Highlights of his career include driving Kenny Loggins' "Footloose", and "I'm Alright” to the top of the charts plus a 28 year gig as a member of Chicago.
Tris amassed a massive collection of drum gear over his six decade career. He’s decided to keep just enough to cover his current gigs, and asked my help to try and find worthy homes for the remainder of his collection.
The collection includes drums and accessories from DW, C&C and Orlich, hand percussion from LP and Toca, and nearly 100 cymbals from Paiste and Zildjian. Most of these items are limited editions, hand selected or custom made for Tris. All of it is spectacular pro gear that’s excited to start making music again.
Keep checking back, we’re adding more gear every day!
Tris played this 2012 DW 40th Anniversary Tamo Ash set with Paiste cymbals, Gibraltar rack and DW pedals in live performances and studio recordings with Chicago from 2012 to 2016. Tris recorded the bands 2014 album "NOW" Chicago XXXVI on this set. See and hear the set in action in the attached video of Chicago's appearance at the New Orleans Jazz Festival in 2015.
Everything in the photos is included. All the drums, cymbals hardware, rack and pedals, plus Russ's Chicago touring artifacts are included.
The DW Tamo Ash shells remain in excellent condition. You may find a very minor scuff or scrape here and there but you'd really have to hunt to find them. The matching 5x14 snare drum is a DW Super Solid model, machined from a single solid piece of wood with integrated reinforcement hoops, created through a proprietary molecular compression process that increases shell density while at the same time making the wood more pliable.
The black pewter finish on the hoops and hardware shows some scuffs and scrapes visible in the photos but remains functionally excellent.
The Remo heads are the same heads Tris played the last time he played this set with Chicago. The set includes the original Chicago logo bass drum head.
Tris' complete set of Paiste cymbals is included. The cymbal set is a hand picked, matched set of Paiste's Twenty line of cymbals plus a 10" Paiste Signature Splash.
The Gibraltar rack includes all of the clamps, mounts and cymbal arms in the photos. A few of Tris' original cymbal arms were missing so we replaced them with modern Yamaha arms just to complete the set up. The chrome tubes remain in very good shape but on close inspection you'll find some scuffs and scrapes in the chrome. The Gibraltar chrome angle fittings show significant pitting in their chrome finish, but remain functionally excellent. This kind of pitting is extremely common on chromed Gibraltar fittings of this era.
Also included is a collection of Tris' Chicago touring artifacts including a 2016 Tour Program, 2015 All Access laminate, a pair of Tris' stage used Vic Firth Chicago logo signature model sticks, a pair of Vic Firth custom made Tris Imboden caricature sticks, a 2014 Chicago commemorative glass desk weight, Tris' copy of Chicago Hot Streets CD and a live Chicago "board mix" CD.
The set was acquired directly from Tris Imboden and includes a COA signed by Tris Imboden.
The drum set will ship as palleted freight. Our shipping prices are good faith estimates as shipping rates can fluctuate depending on location and season. Buyer will pay actual shipping charges.
